Ok unlike allot of my drawings I am Kinda keeping my random thoughts on this submission as I draw it by the time I started taking little notes here and there I was adding the finishing touches on the chief and realizing I need to go back in through Riddick and up the badass o-meter.
One of my biggest pet peeves with halo 3 is the fact that the armor looks like cement, not just any cement but specifically poured highway cement the kind that has Astroturf rolled over it to give the cement grip. I assume that the Bungie (*cough* Microsoft *cough*) team was going for a Sand casted look. In this case I think they missed the mark Some may like the look, and I am sure there is an artist on the team somewhere who is very proud of his mapping but its not my cup of tea. Thus any time I draw the chief I am going to draw him with smoother lines that way he doesnt look like he met the wrong end of a cement truck and a roll of Astroturf.
And another point of note I think the core design for Halo 2s armor was better in the details then 3, however there are things I DO like about both so I Kinda mashed the two together to get what I have. I REALLY like the way this is turning out. I did this unusually from what I normaly do. I knew I wanted to have something a touch more realistic feeling then my normal stuff which has a very cartoony flare. Pushing my limits and all that, and I REALLY like the way this is turning out.
Only thing to finish on the chief now is his tummy which is gonna be mostly black with a few details here and there. Also I need a computer that can display more color when I get to working in the darker tones I loose allot of In between colors when I am working near pure black.
Ok chief is done for the moment now moving onto Riddicks arm . I need to add the details to the while thing, including his arm gauntlets >_<. One thing I tried to do with this particular piece is to REALLY convey that a.) Chief is out cold, and B.) Riddick is ready to swing into action at any moment. Chiefs head is supposed to look limp and his arms are limp too. Even in cut scenes when Chief is analyzing things going on around him at ease, he really never is at ease, his arms are slightly bent at the elbow making him always look tense.. The only time we EVER see him completely limp is at the beginning of halo 3. His shoulders are also down, almost slumped. Chiefs head is being completely supported by Riddicks fist and is also resting on the back edge of his armor. If Riddick would let go at this point, chiefs head would lull forward.
With Riddick his body language speaks volumes; first off, he is staring directly at the viewer he is leaned forward, his brows are drawn, slight cocky smirk. I used a good deal of reference on his face to try and get the expression right. Also his lips are drawn, he knows that if something happens he will most likely loose the upper hand, he is defensive. His hand is also clenched he knows Chief would be a Mean advisary. He is also trying to have fun with it. You dont find a super Soldier passed out in an allyway every day. Smile for the camera!
Back to art. Working on Riddicks gauntlets. Put the first bit of work into the gauntlets, now working on shadowing the arm I hate hands with a passion I hope his hands actually LOOK like hands. Fixed the knuckles thats what had been bothing me. Rather sleep deprived at this point. Going to go on and add some more highlights to the arm then go back to Riddicks face again.
And now I am finished and super happy with the result woo
You wanna know how I know your gay? I see you holding one another ever so tenderly
GOOD NIGHT OMG
You all know who Halo And Pitch black and shit belong to.
I am not going to read all that, so is this Ridic killing Master Chief, or is it Ridic showing that it's him underneath that helmet? By the way, great job

Very impressive stuff! Great to see the image work so well, and quite the interesting pair, of the Chief and Riddick. Now that would be a movie/game! I'll start of by saying, that everything looks very smooth. And thats critique. If it was the style you were going for, then you hit the nail on the head, just readin your comment, its says you were going for realistic, and Riddicks skin looks a bit too smooth, like rubber almost. And above you mentioned how Chiefs armor was almost a concrete texture in the games, (I don't remember looking that hard at the shiney tin man XD) and that the effect you were going for was almost a mix, the lighting and reflections look right, but it seems to look more like slate to me. Also with the Chief looking unconsiouse, you got the arms and shoulders right, and I can see how you were trying with the head to make it look out cold, but it looks like the Chief is awake, and Riddick is only pulling his head back. But I guess if you slumped his head too much, it would look a lil too much, so I guess the middle value was the aim. Other than that, it looks fantastic. The goggles on Riddick look spot on, and the gauntlets and hands look strong and harsh, just as Riddick is. And the reflection in the Chiefs visor looks awesome, just hard to tell what it is, looks like a Pelican flight craft? Don't mind my ramblings, it might be just me! Still a fantastic pic!
